Estonia has been very industrious this year issuing the its second Commemorative Coin by 1st February.
This coin commemorates the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Tartu Peace Treaty.
The Tartu Peace Treaty was signed between Estonia and Soviet Russia on 2 February 1920 in Tartu. It fixed the eastern border of Estonia, bringing an end to the War of Independence. In the treaty Soviet Russia waived all the rights it had had in Estonia in 1920 and recognized Estonia as an independent sovereign state.
The motif of the coin shows a stylized tree with leaves representing the young and blossoming state of Estonia. The letters "TARTU RAHU" (Peace of Tartu) are cleverly interwoven in the branches and leaves of the tree.
The coin was designed by Ivar Sakk.
Around the edge of the inner circle we see the issuing state "EESTI" between seven and eight o'clock and the date of issue "02.02.2020" between six and four o'clock. All in all, a very attractive Commemorative Coin.
