This the 15th and therefore penultimate of the German Commemoratives devoted to the various Länder (Provinces) in Germany.
The honoured province this year is Sachsen-Anhalt.
To represent the province Magdeburg Cathedral was chosen. The construction of this, the oldest Gothic cathedral in the country, commenced in 1209 and was finally completed in 1520. For more of the interesting history of the cathedral click on this link.
One of its steeples is slightly over 320 ft high. and is thus one of the tallest cathedrals in Germany. The cathedral a landmark of Magdeburg.
The motif, which fully ocupies the inner ring, is simply a depition of the cathedral itsself.
Under the cathedral we see the name of the province "Sachsen - Anhalt" and the country designation "D" for Germany.
On the edge of the inner circle at nine o'clock we see the mint mark on this coin a "D" but bear in mind other coins may bear one of the other mint marks ("A"/"F"/"G"/"J").At three o'clock is the sign of the designer Michael Otto.
Finally in the upper left quadrant is the year of issue "2021".
