This coin has been issued to honour the national park Garajonay.

Garajonay is on the island of La Gomera. La Gomera is one of the Canary Islands ,all of which are officially part of Spain.

Garajonay was declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1986.

The motif of the coin is simply a representation of different aspects of the park. Dominating, to the left of the inner circle of the coin is a mountain. This is the mountain of Garajonay (after which the park is named) and is the highest point on the island (1487 meters above sea level).

In the foreground are plants that are endemic to the island.

On the edge of the inner circle running from twelve to two o'clock are the name of the issuing country and the year of issue - ESPAÑA and 2022.

Finally , just under 2022 is the Mint Mark.
